About Us

An array of colorful Mexican dishes and tacos on a wooden table. — Taco Bamba Raleigh
An array of colorful Mexican dishes and tacos on a wooden table.

Raleigh has no shortage of Mexican restaurants, but Taco Bamba earns its 4.6-star reputation one taco at a time. The menu reads like a love letter to the taqueria tradition, packed with options that go well beyond the usual suspects. Reviewers consistently single out the Birria as a standout, juicy and deeply spiced, and the Carnitas as some of the most memorable they have tasted anywhere in the Triangle.

The Wade Avenue location is the kind of spot you plan to visit once and end up returning to every week. Five tacos in a single sitting is not gluttony here, it is research. Lengua, Carne Asada, Chicken Tinga, and Carnitas each deliver a distinct personality, and the kitchen does not cut corners on any of them. The quesadillas and broader menu round things out for anyone who wants to explore beyond tacos.

Doors open at 8 AM seven days a week, which means Taco Bamba is one of the few spots in Raleigh where you can chase a great taco from morning through a Friday or Saturday late night. The energy here matches the food: direct, confident, and worth every minute of the drive to 3518 Wade Ave.

What We Offer

Taco Bamba Raleigh runs the full range of chef-crafted Mexican street food, anchored by a taco lineup that covers every craving. Birria tacos lead the conversation, slow-braised and served with consommé for dipping. Alongside them you will find Carne Asada, Carnitas, Lengua, Chicken Tinga, and rotating specials that reward regulars who check the menu often.

Beyond tacos, the kitchen turns out quesadillas, bowls, and a broader menu built for groups who cannot agree on just one thing. Breakfast service starts at 8 AM daily, making Taco Bamba a genuine all-day destination rather than a dinner-only stop. Online ordering is available through the Taco Bamba website for pickup, so you can skip the line without skipping the food.

Friday and Saturday hours extend to 11 PM, perfect for a late dinner after a show or a night out on Wade Avenue. Whether you are feeding a table of six or grabbing a solo order on your lunch break, the kitchen delivers the same bold, consistent flavors every time.

"This is usually my favorite place to get a quesadilla, however today I ordered for pick up and it was terrible. The aluminum foil they used to wrap the food was only half on, so my food was cold even though I came 5 minutes after they said it’d be ready. My quesadilla also had significantly less meat, cheese fillings than usual. I always get this quesadilla but this time it was WAY too hot, it’s never tasted so off before. Usually good place for food but the nachos and quesadilla I got just weren’t made well. Sad."

"Super yum! Me, my family, and friends went today for dinner here for the tacos. I didn't know about this place before but the menu blew me away. Lots of items. I got the Birria which was very juicy and cheesy and meaty. Best taco I ate. There were more like the al pack and the quesadilla and torta which were all good too."

"I got 5 different tacos for get a real vibe of the store. I got Birria, Lengua, Carne Asada, Chicken Tinga, and the Carnitas. The Carnitas and Carne Asada were so good. The Carnitas in particular was so flavorful and juicy. The Chicken was just okay. Nothing to write home about. The Lengua had a strange after taste, but that may just be a preference issue. The Birria was not only tough but so salty. I also got the rice, it just smelled off and was not very tasty. The Chips and Queso were pretty good. A little spicy but in a good way. When I asked for the manager he listened to my complaints and then disappeared and went off to do other work. After waiting 12 minutes I headed inside and went straight to the register to complain yet again and after a little bit they granted me a refund for the unsavory items. The bartender was super friendly, the atmosphere was cute, but all in all I was not a fan of the food."

"We literally just left and it was so good, I had to review immediately! Every bite we ate was flavor-packed and obviously thoughtful and intentional in their flavor combinations/menu development! It’s family-friendly with an enclosed (!) green area, plenty of outdoor seating + corn hole. For the kids, we ordered chicken quesadillas, black refried beans & rice. Adults had Taco Bambas, Sweet Baby Jesus & Jeneral (served in a cabbage leaf for my GF friends!) tacos… which were so delicious, we went back for more! Oh, & blood orange that were *chef’s 💋* Behind the counter, Nancy was delightful, so sweet & helpful!"
